Topics
An Introduction to HTML5
Learn about the history of HTML5 and the
design principles that drive its development. Find out why HTML5
is more of an evolution than a revolution. Come to grips with the
new structural elements and figure out a strategy for migrating
to HTML5 today.
HTML5 Canvas, Video & Forms
We love HTML, and now it loves us back:
some aspects of HTML5 are invisible to the end user, and
therefore make their lives easier as they don't get in the way
— no more "please download a new version of the
plugin" message, for example. We'll have a look at the power
of <canvas> and how to add native video to your pages.
Other aspects of HTML5 -like the new webforms- offer a consistent
user experience across sites, while making it much simpler for
the developer (that's you!) to write form validation. We look in
depth at the new form markup.
HTML5 Web Sockets, Web Workers, and
Geolocation Unleashed!
In this action-packed session, Peter
Lubbers, co-author of the book Pro HTML5 Programming, will show
you how to unleash the power of HTML5 Programming in your Web
Applications. He will cover the use of the following three new
HTML5 APIs: Web Sockets, Web Workers and Geolocation. Peter will
use practical, real-life examples and bring you up-to-speed,
fast, so you can immediately start using HTML5 features in your
own web applications. Additionally, he will cover the available
browser support for the different HTML5 APIs.
HTML5 Storage APIs (Web Storage, Web
Databases, Offline Applications)
We'll look at how the HTML5 and related
specifications allow us to develop applications that can survive
outside of the web. Browsers now offer us simple storage and more
complicated SQL based storage and also full offline support which
means we can build our apps to be self sufficient when the user
is disconnected. This talk will take you through the technology
and walk you though some practical code.
