The Edmonton Social Media Breakfast (SMBYEG) is pleased to announce Walter Schwabe (@fusedlogic) as this month’s guest speaker.

The topic for the January SMBYEG is:

    The Awesomeness of SocialTV

Understanding the digital behaviors of today's online audiences can help businesses accomplish their objectives far better today than in the original static Web eco-system.  Walter Schwabe, Chief Evolution Officer of fusedlogic inc., and Executive Producer of fusedlogicTV will define and discuss the impact of digital behaviors such as, "social viewing" now associated with traditional television programming and how it's changing the industry as a whole.  Further, he'll demonstrate how the entertainment industry has effectively integrated into the social eco-system, while discussing the impact of social viewing data which is affecting entertainment expenditures.

Overall, Walter's talk on SocialTV will look to reveal interesting behavioral patterns associated with this evolving space for your viewing, tweeting and blogging pleasure...

    About the Guest Speaker:

    WALTER SCHWABE /Schwa•be/

Walter has been helping entrepreneurs generate and implement rare ideas for over 11 years as the Chief Evolution Officer of fusedlogic inc., and over the past 7 years fusedlogic has quietly evolved into one of Canada’s leading social media engagement firms.

Walter and his team at fusedlogic have consulted on social media challenges for the Government of Alberta’s Public Affairs Bureau, ATB Financial, Edmonton Economic Development Corporation, MacEwan University’s School of Business, Fringe Theatre Adventures, Industry Canada and Health Canada.  Add to that NorQuest College, the City of Edmonton’s IT Branch, City of Grande Prairie, Strathcona County, City of Fort Saskatchewan, Parkland County and they exceeded expectations for Microsoft (despite being an Apple shop).

As a freelance writer and former columnist, Walter has been published in Edmontonians Magazine, global editorial news distributor Troy Media Corporation, Commerce News, CGA Magazine and since 2005 he has been interviewed on topics related to social media in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Edmonton Journal, Sherwood Park News, Profit Magazine and Venture magazine to name a few.  Walter is also a regular contributor on CTV and SHAW TV, and has appeared on Global Edmonton Television as well.

Having a face for radio, in 2010 Walter was also fortunate to have hosted Canada’s first weekly radio show dedicated to social media called Getting Social with Schwabe airing on Edmonton’s TheTEAM1260 and included interviews with 12 time New York Times Best Selling author Seth Godin, as well as, leaders from Google, BBC News, Dow Jones, and a member of the Central Intelligence Agency, he could tell you who but then he’d….well you get the point.

Walter also hosts Gov2TV, a live Internet TV show on fusedlogicTV.  While finishing his first book on Government 2.0, the work has generated the opportunity to learn from the US Army Reserve, New York State Senate, CIA, the Whitehouse and municipal CIO’s including Edmonton’s own Chris Moore.  Not having nearly enough to do he’s about to start his second book in 2012 on social media related to your digital behaviors.

As a seasoned public speaker of over 13 years, Walter has presented to over 10,000 people at numerous events, seminars, and conferences in Canada and the US and would love to hear you feedback about his presentation today.  He’s @fusedlogic on Twitter.

When asked what he’s most proud of, he responded, “not passing out in the delivery room in the first 60 seconds as a new Dad when his daughter was born and every moment he doesn’t screw it up since.”
