Event Description:
This panel will
explore the future of science news reporting and new models
for news dissemination, e.g., Futurity, NSF's Science360
News Service. We will examine whether science news that's
created, posted and shared by academic institutions or the
private sector -- news that bypasses the "editorial
filter" -- crosses the line between news and PR. Or whether
in an age when science reporting at mainstream news outlets
has dissipated, this direct-to-reader model is necessary
and spells the future for news syndication and consumption.
Each
of our esteemed panelists plays a pivotal role in the
conversation about how news is produced, distributed and consumed.
