Five
years ago there were no iPhones, no Kindles, no iPads, no Flip
Cameras, no Twitter, no YouTube, no Facebook, and no widespread
instant messaging. Media as we know it is rapidly changing before
our eyes. Today more people in the world have access to smart
phones than clean water. All the while, newspapers are in such
rapid decline that some of the titans of the industry are in
serious jeopardy of vanishing from existence.
What
do all of these rapid changes mean for how we communicate our
ideas, business and stories? How does this change the way we work
with mainstream media? And, most importantly, how are these
changes changing us, how we think about communications and how the
public interest sector changes behavior and policy on the most
important issues of the day?
In
this presentation, Parker Blackman, Fenton's Chief Operating
Officer and Robert Perez, Senior Vice President at Fenton, will
lead an interactive discussion on 12 driving forces in
communications including: a globalized Internet; increasing
audience fragmentation; the end of traditional journalism;
transparency and authenticity as values; the importance of being
our own content providers and disseminators, and more. Please join
us to share your questions and insights about the potential
implications of this new communications landscape, followed by a
chance for informal networking with colleagues.
