Event Description:
A panel
of movement entrepreneurs will lay the groundwork for expanding this
growing class of socially-driven change-makers to help solve major
global problems. The discussion will cover topics such as when a
movement is the necessary intervention, the struggles with this new
form of entrepreneurship, and the social impact of such ventures.
Keynote: Jeremy Heimans, CEO, Purpose
Jeremy Heimans, founder and CEO of Purpose, will begin the
session with a keynote speech on the Rise of the Movement
Entrepreneur. Immediately following, he will join a panel of
movement entrepreneurs to discuss expanding this growing class of
socially-driven change-makers to help solve major global problems.
The discussion will cover topics such as: when a movement is
the necessary intervention, the struggles with this new form of
entrepreneurship, and the social impact of such ventures.

Recognized in The Guardian’s “50 Women to
Watch,” Management Today’s “35 Women Under
35” and as a “Face to Watch” in Campaign Magazine,
Chrysi has been at the forefront of digital media and internet
advertising for the last decade. Chrysi joined (RED) as head of
digital in January 2009. (RED) was created by Bono and Bobby Shriver
to engage business and consumer power to help eliminate AIDS in Africa.

Andre Banks is the co-founder
of All Out, a Purpose-led movement to bring millions of people
together to advocate for full equality for LGBT people around
the world. Before joining purpose he served as deputy
director at ColorofChange, a 900,000 member organization
building a 21st century movement for civil rights and racial justice.

Jeremy Heimans is the
co-founder and CEO of Purpose, a profit-with-purpose business
that builds movements to help solve major global problems.
Purpose has built global movements to fight cancer with
LIVESTRONG and movements to eliminate nuclear weapons in 20
years with Global Zero, a new initiative led by more than 200
world leaders. In 2007, Mr Heimans co-founded Avaaz.org, the
world’s largest online political community. In 2005, he
co-founded GetUp.org, an Australian online political movement
and internationally recognized social movement phenomenon. Mr
Heimans was named one of “The Top People Who is Changing
the World of Internet and Politics” by the World
e-Government Forum. His work has been recognized in publications
like The Economist and the New York Times.
Brett Solomon (@accessnow)
Brett Solomon is co-founder and
Executive Director of Accessnow.org – a new global movement
for digital freedom. Born out of the aftermath of the 2009 Iranian
election, Access uses cutting edge technologies to help people
living behind the firewall, provides thought leadership on the new
frontier of digital rights, and is building a mass global
citizens’ movement which can advocate for internet freedom.
