The 6th CIE
International Teachers' Conference took place on 27 - 29 September
2010. Many thanks to everyone who attended for helping it be such an
outstanding success.
The CIE
International Teachers' Conference is THE professional development
and networking conference for Cambridge teachers, and this year over
180 delegates from over 40 countries met to share ideas and
resources, explore issues relating to the global learner and global
education, and to network with colleagues from around the world.
Keynote speakers
from the University of Cambridge and from Global Education
organisations put global learning into context and provided a
vocabulary for delegates to use in the discussions in their
workshops. Delegates attended a number of facilitated workshops and
explored the nature of the 'global learner', and developed practical
classroom techniques that help equip the Global Learner with the
skills and knowledge they will need in our changing world.
Delegates were
extremely positive about their experiences at the conference, and
many spoke of the wealth of ideas they had gained to take back to
their schools and share with colleagues. As one delegate noted:
"I enjoyed
sharing ideas and thoughts with teachers from so many backgrounds. I
do feel now that I am part of a teaching community struggling
towards the same goals no matter where we are located."
