About Emily Sawtell (Opening Remarks): Emily
Sawtell is the Founder of GradeGuru, a web 2.0
collaborative platform and the first McGraw-Hill Education start-up.
She is also Senior Director of Student Innovations for McGraw-Hill
Higher Education. Emily has a passion for education, particularly with
regard to equity of access. She specializes in the process and
potential of innovation offered by digital platforms and the social
web - much of her post-graduate academic work concentrated on how to
engender disruptive innovation from within organizations and how to
apply business innovation concepts in education. She focuses on
building new businesses from within McGraw-Hill, leveraging the power
of technology to educate.
