This is a project based course that
outlines the workings of a studio, from lighting, settings to
composition. You will be working in groups of three on preparing and
using different studio sets for people and objects photography. For
intermediate photographers.
Tutor Biography
Hugh McElveen studied Analytical Chemistry (DCU) 1989 and
Biotechnology (UCG) 1993 before taking up photography in 1995. In 1999
he left commercial photography for education and to pursue his own
practice. Since then he founded the Digital Imaging program at the
Gallery of Photography and contributed to the BA Photography syllabus
at IADT where he was the Digital Imaging tutor for 7 years before he
left in 2008 to found www.exhibitastudios.ie and to develop his own
work. His recent book Connemara: Legend and Landscape was selected for
Great Irish Book Week. He is currently working on his next book and an
exhibition of portraits. Hugh photographs for many Irish artists
documenting their work and helping them develop projects through photography.
