On Thursday March 24th 2011, Rochester area people will have the
chance to Meet, Tweet, and Give to a local charity at a local venue to
connect online relationships in real life, while having a great time
and donating to a local cause.
Proceeds from this year's Twestival will benefit the YWCA of
Rochester and Monroe County! We hope to raise approximately $6,500
which will provide homeless women and children in our community with
200 courtesy nights in the YWCA’s Emergency Housing program. The
program provides safe and reliable housing for over 300 homeless women
and children in the community each year and also offers support
services to help women find safe and affordable long-term homes.
Please see our blog post on the announcement.
100% of the ticket and raffle sales will go towards the
YWCA of Rochester & Monroe County!
Twestival® (or Twitter Festival) uses social media for social
good. Twestival is the largest global grassroots social media
fundraising initiative to date, raising $1.2 million within 14 months
for 137 nonprofits. All local events are organized 100% by volunteers
and 100% of all ticket sales and donations go direct to projects.
