Thursday March 25th from
6-9pm, join the local #yyj Victoria BC Twitter community for
Twestival Global 2010- Victoria, an evening of mixing, mingling,
music and fun as we fundraise for Concern Worldwide @Concern.
Our generous hosts The Bard and Banker Scottish
Pub have provided the venue and appetizers, musicians are lined
up to entertain you, and there will be opportunities to win fabulous
raffle prizes donated by local businesses and individuals.
Take your online community offline
and connect for a cause.
Concern Worldwide works among the
most disadvantaged individuals to provide educational opportunities.
Founded in 1968, Concern is implementing programs in 28 of the
poorest countries in the world. Saving lives through effective
emergency response while working to address root causes of poverty
through long-term development, the organization now reaches
more than 12 million of the world’s poorest. The
core values of the organization remain constant: targeting extreme
poverty through the delivery of high-quality, effective
programs.
In September 2009, the inaugural
Twestival Victoria, #yyjtwestival raised $5000 for Power To Be
Adventure Therapy Society, a local Victoria not for profit providing
outdoor experiences to youth and adults with disabilities.
We were the second Canadian city in
funds raised. Can we do better in 2010? Your #yyjtwestival team is
excited to see the possibilities.
Volunteers are always welcome. We
have opportunities for photographers, videographers, live bloggers,
ticket sellers, greeters, etc. Send us a tweet to @yyjtwestival.
Even if you are not able to attend,
you can make a donation on the "tickets" page. Every
dollar raised through ticket sales goes directly to Concern
Worldwide - there are no administration fees charged by Amiando, our
ticketing partner.
