Twestival™ or Twitter Festival: social media for
social good
On Thursday 25 March
2010, people in hundreds of cities worldwide will come
together offline for global Twestivals. At
these events, our fun will raise funds for the education
programmes of this year's chosen charity,
Concern Worldwide.
Twestivals come to life via the social media tool,
Twitter and are
coordinated by 100% volunteer teams. One hundred per cent of the
funds raised will help support the charity's education
programmes and as at 6 March 2010, the 2010 Global
Twestivals had already raised sufficient funds to send
72 children to school for a year, which is fantastic news, but
we can still do more!
The 2010 Farnham
Twestival seeks to raise funds for Concern
Worldwide's teacher training programmes, in particular,
and our action-packed event will take place between
7pm and 11pm on the evening of
Thursday 25 March 2010. It is being organised by
thebluedoor PR agency in the
Stone and Great Halls of the 900 year old
Farnham Castle
and
iBundle,
the Surrey based innovation hub, will generously
provide a drink for each participant on entry. Mars
Drinks were also recently announced as event sponsors
too and there was even talk of wall-to-wall chocolate!
GuyWakely
has kindly sourced superb raffle prizes for us, but we would
still very much welcome any other offers of
sponsorship. If you are interested, please do not
hesitate to contact us.
We hope that you will be able
to join us for this unique Surrey Twestival at which, we are
thrilled to announce,
Nick
Halstead, CEO of Tweetmeme, will be
our keynote speaker. Everyone is welcome, but as over half
of the tickets have now been sold, we suggest that you start
booking right away, in order to avoid any disappointments.
Thank you very much for your support.
