Jean-Efflam Bavouzet first
came to Potton Hall in 2005 to embark on recording his Debussy
series for theChandos label.
He fell in love with Potton Hall and we instantly fell in love with
him! The Debussy CDs received such rave reviews that
they have already become iconic in the recording world and
Jean-Efflam now has two recording projects on the go at Potton Hall
for Chandos: the complete piano sonatas of Beethoven and those of Haydn.
Jean-Efflam
also shares a passion for trains with our son Rupert, and they have
spent many happy hours creating ever-more complex railway tracks in
our conservatory! Jean-Efflam is also a firm favourite of our
daughter Kitty-May, who met him when she was two years old. They
have been inseparable ever since! It’s a joy for us to count
Jean-Efflam as a close friend – he really does light up Potton
Hall with his inspirational presence when he’s here.
Jean-Efflam’s
recital on September 27th will be the only time he is playing this
programme in the UK this year/season and will include the
ever-popular Pathétique as well as the two sonatas Op.14 and
one of the grandest of Beethoven’s early sonatas, the E flat,
Op.7. In the preceding month to his Potton Hall concert, Jean-Efflam
will be performing in the BBC Proms 2010 season together with the
Philharmonia Orchestra
