Explore one the the most simple yet difficult aspects to master of
photography. With expressive potential from the harsh reality of Lewis
Hine and Weegee to the naturalistic effect of wedding photographers
this course will introduce you to making stunning images with
on-camera flash. After a tripod an on-camera flash unit is the single
most important accessory a photographic artist can add to their
equipment. It can also be one of the most rewarding additions to
master. Subtle use of flash guns can keep the natural looking light of
a scene and maximise the potential of an image where poor lighting
would have ruined the image or made it impossible.
For this workshop you should bring and dSLR with manual settings, a
flash unit (preferably with TTL but not necessary). Also useful, but
optional, would be a tripod and a laptop if you want to explore
post-production related issues.
This course is aimed at those who have a basic understanding of
photography. Participants should appreciate the relationship between
ISO, shutter speed and aperture to get the most out of this course.
