This course on freelance writing and journalism is offered in a
relaxed, low pressure environment. Participants will be shown how to
go about finding, writing and submitting stories and feature articles
for submission. Best practice amongst practitioners will be read and
discussed --- the better to learn from the masters.
Tutor Biography
Paul Clements
Paul Clements is a writer,
journalist and tutor. He worked for the BBC for more than 25
years in Belfast and London where his roles included radio and
television news reporter, environment correspondent, chief
sub-editor and assistant news editor. He now works freelance for
the BBC and contributes to a range of newspapers and magazines
including The Irish Times, Irish Examiner,
Guardian, Escape, and Ireland of the
Welcomes.
He has written two travel
books about Ireland: Irish Shores: A Journey Round the Rim of
Ireland and The Height of Nonsense: The Ultimate Irish
Road Trip. He has written and edited two books on the
travel writer and historian Jan Morris.
Paul is also a contributing
editor to two travel guides: Insight and
Fodor’s. He has led workshops in creative writing
at many of Ireland’s premier arts festivals and tutors
travel writing classes at Queen’s University, Belfast, and
