Intellectual Property Strategy Seminar
All businesses have some forms of Intellectual Property (IP) and need to make an informed decision as to how to use IP to create a competitive advantage. Creating an IP strategy helps businesses focus on their key IP assets and how best to protect, develop and maximise the value of IP with the available budget. This event is aimed at businesses with valuable IP or who are developing valuable IP. This event will allow attendees to:
- Understand the value of their IP
- Learn how to develop their IP from an IP Lawyer, an Investor and a panel of successful entrepreneurs
- Recognise their IP in all its forms
- Finance, exploit, and protect their IP
- Understand the basics of copyright, patent and trademark law in the UK
- Appreciate the importance of an effective IP strategy
- Tackle any overseas IP issues
- Ask questions of the speakers and panel members and network with 100 fellow entrepreneurs

Robert Pocknell, Keystone Law
Robert is an IP specialist with over 20 years experience. He spent 10 years advising music and media clients on their IP and then became General Counsel for 6 years for a mobile phone manufacturer and a further two years working for TomTom as their IP Counsel. Robert now advises a range of businesses on IP issues, from start-up entrepreneurs to multinational companies.
Andy Tait, Pembridge Partners LLP
Andy has more than 20 years experience in developing and licensing both technology and digital content to companies including; Microsoft, Intel, Nokia and ARM, Sony, Taito and LEGO. Andy has co-founded businesses served on the boards of both private and publicly quoted companies in the UK and USA and has also been central to the raising of more than £60m in equity finance. In his current role with Pembridge, he overseas and advises on investment in high growth businesses where creativity and technology meet.

Howard Lewis, Board Director
Howard Lewis is a board director with experience of M&A, funding, IPO preparation and joint ventures, in businesses ranging from start-ups to multinationals. He has an established track record in leading complex technology businesses across Europe, USA and Asia.
Senake Atureliya, Entrepreneur
Senake Atureliya is a serial entrepreneur and innovator who has represented the interests of SMEs on patent reform nationally and internationally. He has particular expertise in business process and software patents. His current role is with Pie Finance, an innovative peer-to-peer resourcing platform that takes entrepreneurs from the unproven to the investable.
Simon Daniel, CEO of Moixa Energy
Simon Daniel is founder and CEO of Moixa Energy. He previously invented/licensed the PDA Folding keyboard, which has sold approx 2m units. He was formerly a Senior Manager with Accenture, where he helped create the global business launch centre practice, helping numerous start-ups and new technologies come to market, and is an evangelist for new technology.
Iqbal Gandham, Entrepreneur
Iqbal Gandham is a seasoned internet entrepreneur, with over 15 years experience and several successful exits to his credit. He has been through the patent process many times. Now, Iqbal splits his time between building his current start-up, acting as a non-exec board member in London and Delhi, and advising entrepreneurs.
