A Twestival is a Twitter festival organized by volunteers around the
world that brings people offline for a great cause. Twestival
was born out of the idea that if cities were able to collaborate on an
international scale, but work from a local level, it could have a
spectacular impact. While Twestival Global put the spotlight around
one cause on a single day, Twestival Local is getting back to its
roots and encouraging cities around the world to host events in
support a local cause on one day during the weekend of 10-13 September 2009.
Austin Twestival will be a family friendly event Sunday, September
13th at Buffalo Billiards benefiting Mobile Loaves and Fishes.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 to purchase one recreational
vehicle and lift one brother or sister off of the streets of Austin
permanently. So come, support this great cause and enjoy door
Prizes, auctions, stand up arcade games, air hockey, a Nintendo Wii,
PS3, Xbox360, and of course pool. Plus, when else can you bring
your kids to 6th street for a lesson in kindness and giving? Exactly!
Well, actually, bought a ticket, but can't attend. Have extra fun for me, ok? :)
